If Mea Culpa and Strung Out were any premonitions, they were definitely good ones. GR/EF echo the strength of a contemporary metal band that still appreciates the textures of the past. Their music rumbles with rage, but their lyrics are dialled in and specific. There is a cinematic sequitur in their songs, and it isn’t difficult to find. Verse section might bring you to the ground with the energy. As you approach the bridge, you’re greeted with a Deftones like chorus that will stick with you. The nomads from North Wales are rippling with quite the frustration, and the screams are a reminder of the same. I enjoyed listening to this song so much, I reached a personal best lifting weights. And I never usually do. Scaphism shows them at their mature, blooming self, with strong ties to the kind of music that makes them buzz.
