Nashville based artist TOSPACEWEGO has released his latest single, ‘Lives I’ve Wasted Willingly’. TOSPACEWEGO is the moniker of Charlie Smith, a singer, producer and composer. Smith has been creating music since 2006 and released his first project, An Ethereal Experience, in 2022. With his latest release, he brings nearly two decades of musical evolution into sharp focus.

Lives I’ve Wasted Willingly’ is a stunning and layered track. It features an incredibly talented live band, fusing various genres of music to create something unique and memorable. The blend of electronic and acoustic, combined with the powerful, honest lyrics, makes the song arresting. The instrumentation begins smoothly, full of grooves and delicate, careful transitions. The Lyrics
From the start, there is a powerful sense of storytelling. “Lives I’ve wasted willingly/ Getting you to notice me/Seconds slowly killing me/Getting you to know it’s me”, the track begins. It immediately plunges the listener into the track’s emotional conflict. The singer’s sorrow strikes us immediately— the devastation in the phrase “wasted willingly”— a conscious submission, in pursuit of love, only for it to remain unrequited. Smith’s delivery is confessional and resigned. He laments over the time he has given to this person, while wondering if this feeling is supposed to last. He dreams of another life, one with this person by his side. Just as you think you know the song, a horn solo pleasantly surprises you near the end, around the 3-minute mark, sweeping you off your feet. The song is dynamic, twisting and moving like a live thing.
‘Lives I’ve Wasted Willingly’ delivers an intentionally crafted, at the same time intensely emotional experience that leaves a lasting impression on any listener.
