‘Yellowstone’ by The Post is a Poetic Indie-Folk Track that Brings on Vulnerability with Poetic Charm

Yellowstone’ by The Post is a dark indie folk track that takes on vulnerable perspectives with poetic charm. The soundscape is characterised by dark guitars and deep strings while the lyrics explore those deep, tender moments in a relationship when both sides urge each other to lower their guard.

The narrative being told is well-rounded and raw, while the guitars and cello keep pace almost. First slow, then trotting as they find their momentum before the percussion picks up just as the song ends.

‘Yellowstone’: Darkened Vulnerability

‘Yellowstone’ begins in a deep place, with this hint of trepidation. Its moody and low, slow on the up-take while our narrator begins to weave this tale. We begin in the first person, with our narrator coming in with the intention to surrender, and trust.

In every perspective, two roles push and pull, one side is hesitant to pull their guard down, while the other urges them to do so. So we begin with that urging pull, that foreshadows where this push-and-pull leads.

We also get this clear sense of location on ‘Yellowstone’, allowing emotion to step from metaphors that feel rooted in imagery. “…You have always galloped without a need to turn back…”. “…Put your fears aside…you’ve always kept them in case you need them…”.

“…But I surrender at the Yellowstone…”.

‘Yellowstone’ by The Post captures this tug-of-war with moving verse, allowing us to immerse ourselves in this moment while looking at it from different perspectives. The dip the Cello melody takes towards the end of the song strings us along through the narrative, helping us feel the intensity of unraveling vulnerability until the very end.

Moving, immersive and captivating.
