Post Malone, the renowned rapper, has made headlines once again by becoming the inaugural artist to grace the new permanent TSX Stage in the heart of New York City’s iconic Times Square. In an exciting twist, the musician took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to tease his surprise performance, sharing a photo of a billboard cryptically proclaiming, “New York City, I have a surprise for you. Love, Austin,” cleverly concealing the new stage.
The free concert, which lasted approximately 25 minutes, delighted a crowd of Times Square visitors with a selection of Post Malone’s hits, including the chart-topping “Sunflower,” along with eagerly anticipated tracks such as “Overdrive” and “Chemical” from his forthcoming album, Austin.
Overwhelmed with excitement, the rapper expressed, “This is like the coolest thing in the world,” while addressing the enthusiastic audience during the memorable concert.
TSX Stage NYC bustles with Alt-Pop Rapper’s hits
Constructed by TSX Entertainment over several months, the new TSX Stage is set to become a vibrant hub for a wide range of live events. Notably, the project is also being hailed as an addition to the “metaverse,” with plans to host screenings on the stage’s colossal billboard display. As part of the renowned Tribeca Film Festival, an upcoming screening of the Broadway musical Waitress is already scheduled to captivate audiences in Times Square.
Furthering the screening component alongside live events, Post Malone’s groundbreaking concert was also live-streamed for his dedicated fans. Although originally intended for the TSX mobile app, the stream was seamlessly shifted to EarthCam’s YouTube channel, renowned for broadcasting live feeds from Times Square, due to unexpected technical difficulties.
Expressing his love for New York, Malone concluded the captivating performance by proclaiming, “I love you New York. Keep kicking ass and I’ll see y’all soon.”
