Dune Blue-Locked Up | Taste the ocean air

Dune Blue can very well penetrate the pop scene. They can go mainstream with their catchy tracks, and their dedication to the rhythm is admirable. If surf rock had an interesting cousin, its whatever Dune Blue makes. Based in Brooklyn, N.Y, this artist has been publishing tracks since 2020. This is his latest single, Locked Up.

With a reggae rhythm to his track, he tackles a unique anomaly. You see, reggae has some pretty happy lyrics, if you have been a fan of Bob Marley and the Wailers. Sure, he tackled some divisive political views with his music. The tracks would still all be in major key, have a funky backbone and his famous positivity. Here, Dune Blue attacks the prisoners syndrome during the pandemic with reggae happiness. The chords and tone of the guitar is inarguably reggae, and his notes strike clean.

The other two tracks, Dillon’s Song and Been Around are equally enticing and catchy. In parts, the vocals sound like Anthony Kiedis from RHCP. If this track doesn’t get you to dance, you’re probably one of those people who can’t. Enjoy more of his tracks from his EP Snake Eyes from 2021 and his first three singles for the year posted here. This can get popular any time, and some people have what it takes to make a neo-reggae original. I’m looking at you, Dua Lipa.

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
