‘Failure’ by Daniel Bohn is an introspective metal track that moves from a deep and quiet mood to one that is explosive and frustrated. Its deep pianos, tremulous synths and whispery vocals describe moments of reflective calm tinged with sadness.
This reflection builds with a stomping percussion before exploding into a frenzy of frustrated thoughts that are balanced out by the quiet lines that follow.

‘Failure’: Frustration that is Quiet & Loud
‘Failure’ is a track that oscillates between a somewhat consistent flow of thoughts to an explosion of angst and frustration. Its quiet openning lines describe a mind that is spiraling, quietly spinning out of control while some external sense of pressure mounts.
“…My mind is going ins*ne right now,
It’s killing me to live somehow.
If you only knew what I feel inside
I am sure you would run away…”.
The narrator wonders “…why do I always fail?…”, a phrase that leads into that loud expression of pend-up frustration that almost covers up the quiet, swirling thoughts that follow. These lines speak to eachother, though they voice their anxieties in different ways.
Satisfying grating screams followed by quieter moments of (reflection and doubt).
“…Why do I always fail?
I just can’t seem to find…
(My mind will not stop racing…)
…Why I fail,..
(…The pit inside my stomach…)
…I can’t seem to find out why I fail…
(…I can’t find a way to shut it down…).”
The highlight of ‘Failure’ however lies in its explosive verse before its energetic guitar solo leads to its quiet conclusion. The lines in this verse highlight external pressure, and how the weigh of their stories seem to press down and seemingly create these feelings of failure.
“…I recall their words, the stories they shared of success and triumph,
How they never despaired.
But here I am, failing to reach their heights.
Struggling, stumbling in their critical lights…”.
‘Failure’ by Daniel Bohn ends with the question that forms the basis of its theme, “…why do I always fail?…”. The listener is left with a sense of weighty hollowness in the face of the thoughts our narrator has internalised. The song’s oscillating nature make for an electrifying and angsty listen.
