May 5/ Ed Sheeran: –

The final in his decade-long mathematical album era, global superstar Ed Sheeran’s new album “-” (pronounced subtract) was released worldwide on May 5 via Atlantic Records.

“-” showcases one of the biggest artists on the globe at his most transparent and genuinely vulnerable. It revisits Ed’s singer/songwriter beginnings and was composed against a backdrop of personal pain and optimism. By Ed’s own admission:

“I had been working on Subtract for a decade, trying to sculpt the perfect acoustic album, writing and recording hundreds of songs with a clear vision of what I thought it should be. Then at the start of 2022, a series of events changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately the way I viewed music and art.

May 5/ The Smashing Pumpkins: Atum

The Smashing Pumpkins presented ATUM: A Rock Opera In Three Acts last autumn. Each 11-track act was scheduled for release 11 weeks apart. The first act was released in November; the second in January. The third act of the album was meant to be released at the end of April, but their elaborate 11-week plan went awry, causing a slight delay. Nevertheless, the third act has finally arrived!

May 12/ Daft Punk: Random Access Memories (10th Anniversary Edition)

The new collection features nine unreleased tracks with a runtime of 35 minutes on triple-LP, double-CD, and digital formats. Alternative versions of “Get Lucky,” “Lose Yourself To Dance,” and “Give Life Back To Music,” as well as unfinished demos and other studio takes are included in the additional content.

Two years ago, the French duo of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter announced their breakup. Since then, they have released a reissue of their live album Alive ’97 along with a 25th anniversary version of their first album Homework.

May 12/ Eluvium: (Whirring Marvels In) Consensus Reality

(Whirring Marvels In) Consensus Reality combines elaborate components to create a story about our dynamic creativity; technology development; loneliness and isolationism; and unbridled optimism in a world of never-ending growth. The resultant hope, though, is an extraordinary feat of ideas and ingenuity.

May 19/ Dave Matthews Band: Walk Around the Moon

Dave Matthews Band’s next album, Walk Around the Moon, will be released on May 19 through RCA. The new song “Madman’s Eyes,” leads the album.

Walk Around the Moon is Dave Matthews Band’s first studio album since Come Tomorrow in June 2018. They collaborated with producer Rob Evans and executive producer John Alagia on the new record. In May, the band will undertake a North American tour in promotion of the new album

May 19/ Lewis Capaldi: Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent

Grammy winner Lewis Capaldi is set to release Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, via Capitol Records on May 19, 2023.

The album will follow Capaldi’s 2019 full-length debut, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent–a tremendously lauded effort that emerged as the biggest-selling UK album of both 2019 and 2020

May 26/ Sparks: The Girl Is Crying in Her Latte

Sparks revealed earlier this year that they had signed to Island Records after nearly five decades away for a new full-length titled The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte, which will be released on May 26. The album is “as bold and uncompromising as anything we did back then, or for that matter, anytime throughout our career,” according to brothers and bandmates Ron and Russell Mael. The leading single and title track also features a video starring Cate Blanchet.
