Netflix Releases First Look at new Documentary on Late EDM Sensation: Avicii – I’m Tim

Netflix has shared the first trailer for their new documentary on late Swedish DJ and producer Avicii. The film, “Avicii- I’m Tim” features interviews from Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Nile Rodgers and David Guetta, among others. The late DJ will narrate the story himself, thanks to the archival videos and recordings. The film will be up for streaming on Netflix from December 31st. We will also get to watch a 30 minute concert film taken from his final performance at Ibiza’s Ushuaïa.

“Before Avicii, there was Tim. Through his own words, witness how a prodigious musical talent became one of the defining artists of his generation,” reads the Netflix trailer’s caption.

“Avicii – I’m Tim”: A promising trailer where we get to see the artist’s achievements, struggles and setbacks

We see a fascinated Chris Martin explaining his experience when he heard him for the first time. When he heard “Levels” for the first time, he had “that feeling that I get when I really love something”, in how Martin says it. “As an artist, you have to start looking at yourself as a character, and the line between Tim and Avicii were blurred,” laments David Guetta.

The film’s synopsis says, “Through unique home movies and a huge private archive, we get to follow Tim on a winding journey through life—from the very first breath at the maternity ward in Stockholm in 1989 to the tragic end in Oman in 2018. Through himself and everyone close to him—family, artist colleagues and best friends—we get to know Tim—the boy behind Avicii—for the first time.”

Avicii died at the age of 28 in 2018. Universal music released a posthumous album called “Tim” in 2019. Sweden has opened an Avicii museum in 2022 to honor the artist’s legacy. They have also renamed Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe as Avicii Arena.
