Sheryl Crow has watched her Tesla drive into the sunset, without her. It’s real gone this time. The country rocker posted on Instagram that she had made the decision to part with her electric car. This comes after she said NPR was “under threat by President Musk”, alluding to his control over the governance with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The musician is known for her unique spin on country and poetic lyrics, becoming a blossoming friend for NPR, which is known in the States for its support for musicians. Several NPR tiny desk concerts kept musicians’ careers afloat during the waves of Covid as well.

The government’s threat to free media
“My parents always said… you are who you hang out with,” Crow posted, with a promise to all proceeds to go to NPR. This comes from the radio’s integrity stance to news when they refused to change its editorial style to refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America.”
Sheryl Crow is a known Democrat supporter in the previous elections, when she posted publicly that she had voted for Kamala Harris. DOGE laid off thousands of government workers and in the past two weeks, and seem to be continuing the trend to dismantle current structures of government.
