Tama and Fender introduces collector’s edition gear inspired by renowned artists: Lars Ulrich and John Frusciante

TAMA Announces the 40th Anniversary Lars Ulrich kit

Tama is the kind of name in the music industry that needs no introduction  — and what happens when they team up with one of the most iconic drummers, from what is arguably one of the most iconic bands in the world? Keep reading for my thoughts!

The drummer in question is Lars Ulrich, of Metallica fame — and now, Tama has forged a new meaning to a partnership that dates all the way back to 1984, thanks to none other than Neil Peart — releasing the Lars Ulrich 40th Anniversary Drum Kit. Fitting to Metallica’s last album, 72 Seasons, there will only ever be 72 drum kits available.

The Anniversary kit commemorates the 40th anniversary of the release of Ride The Lightning, and comes with of REMO heads. The toms and floor toms will come with REMO Emperor Coated heads, with Ambassador Ebony heads on the bottom — the exact configuration used by Lars on the 72 Seasons tour. Specifically, the kit contains two 22″x16″ bass drums, one 10”x8” tom tom, one 12″x10″ tom tom, one 16″x14″ floor tom, and one 16″x16″ floor tom.

The kit retails for $7,999, and is available via Sweetwater. Other Lars Ulrich drum accessories are available via Reverb.

FENDER introduces the 1962 John Frusciante Limited Edition Sunburst Strat

Fender meticulously replicates John Frusciante’s iconic 1962 Stratocaster for its Limited Edition Masterbuilt Custom Shop signature guitar.

The guitar’s faded, aged finish and heavily worn body contours reflect Frusciante’s playing style. The vibrant two-piece alder body enhances the instrument’s dynamics, while the early ‘60s C-profiled maple neck provides a comfortable feel. The rosewood fingerboard brings back golden-era Stratocaster appointments.

Special highlights include Abigail Ybarra Hand-Wound Stratocaster pickups. Along with an Ilitch Electronics Hum-Canceling System, delivering Frusciante’s warm, clear, and expressive tones. The 7.25″ radius and 21 narrow, high-profile 6105 frets ensure a comfortable playing experience for fast solos and intricate chord progressions.

The guitar also features vintage Strat wiring, a 5-way switch, vintage-style synchronized tremolo and tuners. In addition, a vintage-style bone nut, and a winged string tree with metal spacers. Each buyer will receive a Certificate of Authenticity certifying the guitar’s authenticity and collectibility.

The guitar, built by senior luthier Paul Waller, is a limited edition collector’s item that retails for $20,000.
