Some things about the approach to a guitar keep changing although the filtered Wah-wah sound is constant throughout genres like Funk, Reggae and Synthpop! 2025 offers some fresh options in this segment so let’s take a look into the three pedals from Behringer, Digitech and Jim Dunlop – all 3 very familiar names in the guitar pedal world!
Best Wah Pedals in 2025
The Behringer B-TRON III Envelope Filter
A new envelope filter from the German giants, the Behringer B-Tron III brings back the 70s funk sound to your pedalboard. The pedal is based on the Musitronics Mu-Tron III which was released in 1972. For bass legends like Larry Graham (Sly and The Family Stone) and Bootsy Collins this was an essential part of their iconic sound. Stevie Wonder recorded his Hohner Clavinet for “Higher Ground” through the Mu-Tron III. Fans include Jerry Garcia, Frank Zappa and even Steve Vai.
While the Mu-Tron IV is still available from Mu-Fx, Behringer has launched their own version of the pedal finally after fans have waited for quite some time.
The pedal is suitable not only for guitars but also for bass and keyboards, making it a much more versatile option. And the best thing is it runs only on one 9V battery instead of two like before.

The B-Tron III offers 3 basic Mode options to decide the filter intensity affecting the sound – Low Pass, Band Pass and High Pass. The Peak knob can be adjusted on 10 different levels, from subtle to a more pronounced sound as we go up. There is also a dedicated knob to adjust the Gain level.
The Range switch has two options – Low and High, the former for more vocal-like sounds and the latter for more intense overtones. There is also a Drive option that can be turned on to change the direction of the sweep.
The Behringer B-TRON III Envelope Filter Pedal is available for 69.00 Euros at Thomann!
The DigiTech MonoNeon
Developed in collaboration with trailblazing bassist MonoNeon, the MonoNeon Whammy delivers mind-blowing pitch manipulation for guitar and bass alike.
The MonoNeon, as DigiTech claims, is their boldest, and hence the most expensive Whammy ever to be produced under their flagship. We have to agree here, since this time with the Hypersonic mode, players get up to 3 Octaves of Pitch Shifting as compared to only one like before! The drama effect allows you to experiment with sounds like never before!

We also have a De-Tune setting, perfect for adding depth and presence to your bass lines or chordal playing.
We can see two sides vertically divided on the right side controls section. On the Whammy side, the bass signal will shift to various intervals, controlled via the expression pedal. On the Harmony side, the bass signal remains constant as you add more harmony layers on top.

The pedal can also be controlled by MIDI and this is something that makes it super convenient. Happy exploring with sounds on this one!

Best Wah Pedals in 2025: Jim Dunlop Sepultura CryBaby
This limited edition Cry Baby was launched on Sepultra’s 40th anniversary as a collaboration between Dunlop and wah-wah master Andrea Kisser, Sepultra’s lead guitarist. Brazilian heavy metal band Sepultura has been one of the metal’s greatest bands since the 1980s. The Cry Baby has been an essential part of Sepultra’s sound. Used in tracks like “Resist/Refuse” and “Roots Bloody Roots”.

The pedal lives up to the Sepultura signature sound, the ideal machine for the devastating expressive energy that Andreas brings. Auto-return switching option allows you to stomp in and out of the effect whenever you want to.
The Boost switch brings the gain up to +15 dB, a s set by the Volume knob. The Variable Q knob controls the intensity. Players can shift from a narrow bandpass with higher-end harmonics to a wider bandpass that emphasizes low end harmonics.
