We begin ‘Three Is A Crowd’ with ‘Trifecta’, a track that attempts to introduce the listener to the album’s elements. The song’s pulsating, groovy build and its off-beat percussion. The pulsating rhythms create a familiar backing, while the flute and piano melodies braid together to create a dramatic, synth-led groove.
Looping melodies soon fall away to their base elements, leading into the next track’s base rhythms seamlessly.
On the next track, ‘No Vacancy’, ‘Three Is A Crowd’ highlights its pulsating rhythms and reverberating synths. The groovy, lo-fi beat begins to build under a descending melodies that feel constant and hard-hitting. Much like the first track, after a few loops of melody, each element slowly falls away before the song fades away.
The final track on ‘Three Is A Crowd’ is ‘Third Wheel’, a bright, synth-led track with a subtle build. The track sounds so light it’s almost tropical, moving towards a groove that feels solid, danceable and jumpable. This pulsating track is the most engaging of the tracks, keeping pace with each mood while allowing the story the EP’s trying to tell to evolve.
All three tracks on the album meld seamlessly together, almost as though they’re meant be parts of a larger whole. ‘Three Is A Crowd’ by Tanizzle is a groovy album, that takes its listener on a journey.
