‘Phone Life In Las Vegas’ by Macoussimo is an EDM track with elements of rock & indie music that simulates a digital ride into the peak of overstimulation. The song is a synth-led build-up that builds with a blaring loop of sound. It’s inspired by a combination of ruminating on the the effects of social media while the brights lights in Las Vegas blare.
The track’s catchy piano chorus and snappy vocal and ambient sound samples give it this bright, in-your-face tonality. This feels like a good ride that flirts with this sense of unease.

‘Phone Life In Las Vegas’: Overstimulation Through Soundscape
‘Phone Life In Las Vegas’ begins slow before its synths seem to drag us past multiple loading strings. The soundscape aims to simulate a world where we’re all immersed and overstimulated by a wholly digital world.
This build-up makes its first stop somewhere before the first refrain. This is where a chopped up vocal sample waits at the gates. “…Can-Can I get a phone life?…” backed by a piano that adds a bit of levity to the barging soundscape.
‘Phone Life In Las Vegas’ means to make you feel overstimulated, building on layers and layers that never seem to let up or get less intense. This barrage soon leads into ringing jackpot sounds that loop and loop, while another voice adds in ‘…Las Vegas…’.
These two phrases layer in context, while the music soars towards an overstimulating crescendo. The phrases and looping instrumentation build and build and build before finally ending on ‘Las Vegas’. Almost as though we’ve reached the end of the game, or the screen was turned off.
‘Phone Life In Las Vegas’ by Macoussimo vibes as much as it reflects. The sound serves to simple give the listener insight into an overstimulating experience by building a world that feels a little too familiar, all with sound.
Its engaging, expansive and immersive.
