“We become beams so bright, permeate the night”. ‘Cherry Trees’ by Kat Kikta gave me goosebumps throughout the song, it felt like an Earth Angel singing a lullaby to wake me up from a bad dream. “Let the strenght laugh, and light grow inside of its own.” In a voice that is so forgiving and full of love, Kat Kikta whispers in the ears, “don’t underestimate yourself”. ‘Cherry Trees’ represents the fragility and impermanance of life, also symboloising that after winter, spring arrives. Life renews itself and a new cycle begins, and this song emanates the same feeling.

Where I live cherry trees cannot grow, because of the climate, but Mother Nature has her own way out. A decade back the forest department had planted Rose Trumpet Trees in one part of the city and lo & behold, they are now full bloom this year with cherry tree like pink flowers! It’s impossible to distinctguish from the original, painting that part of the city with pink while filling the hearts with happiness and spring of hope. And, receiving this chance to review Slovakian singer-sonwriter Kat Kikta’s ‘Cherry Trees’ feels like a wonderful synchronicity.

The inspiration for ‘Cherry Trees’ came during the Russia-Ukraine war, when Kat was seeking a way out of the pain and grief the war brought on so many of us. This song was a gift received through her meditations and connection with Spirit to heal her soul and now, ours. Her angelic voice layered with healing sounds of the chimes, gongs, shamanic and singing bowls creates an aura of faith and hope for this changing of time among humanity. Kat Kikta’s ‘Cherry Trees’ is out now on all streaming platform. The video is releasing on the 19th of March and is highly awaited.
