San Quentin – You Got Some Nerve | Hook Rock n Groove

Rising from Southend-on-Sea, Essex in England, alternative indie rock band San Quentin set fire to the stage with their latest single You Got Some Nerve. San Quentin consists of members Liam Cass (rhythm guitarist & songwriter) Owen Eves (lead vocals) Dan Ridgwell (lead guitar) Nick Kepp (bass) and Luke Johns (drums). The quintet is rooted in their working class origins, creating compelling modern rock music.

Songwriter and guitarist Liam Cass along with drummer Luke Johns, vocalist Owes Eves, and bassist Nick Keep formed the band in 2019. Dan Ridgwell then also joined San Quentin as the band’s lead guitarist the following year.

The song You Got Some Nerve begins with a catchy and groovy guitar riff. This is accompanied by a steady rock beat and hard hitting gritty bass lines. With their trusty Marshall and Orange amps and Telecasters and Gibson guitars, the tone on the guitars is tasty and beefy with that retro indie guitar rock sound. The energetic and emotive vocals by lead vocalist Owen Eves set fire to the backdrop. With a solid guitar hook and compelling composition, they hit the ball out of the park.

The band is named after the album San Quentin Prison by Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash with his music rooted in a genuine depiction of the working class and the attitude of rebellion is a major inspiration for the band. Emerging from the great tradition of raw British guitar rock music, San Quentin is here to stay. The band has been featured in BBC Introducing and had sold out a 400 capacity sold out show in their home ground of Southend-on-Sea.
