Storm Boy ring in the hardcore punk sound with their single, “The Steam in the Room”

Storm Boy are from Olympia, WA , and they play post-punk. They are hardcore, and I think you knew that when I told you where they are from. The legacy is marked, in cement, time and a legacy to unwind. They too, will be a part of that legacy. Their raw, real and freshest track ensures it. This is their single, The Steam in the Room.

Consider a building pressure cooker. I don’t mean a the steam building, the building itself being a hot cauldron of pent-up fury. It is bound to go north, way north. Storm Boy make the first 40 seconds of the track exactly that. As someone in the crowd, you can imagine listening to when the band will come in. You want punk? Well, that is granted, with lyrics like this:

We don’t believe in the same light

Same night, same plight, same fight

We’ve here in the same place

At the same time

Are you not? Storm Boy make the meanings and moments resonate with anyone listening, especially with the state we’re subjected to. The freshest part of the track comes when the vocals go to spoken word, which is eye-opening as necessary as it is a monologue within the song.

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
