We recently had an opportunity to interview the dynamic duo, Naked Face. Read on to know what they had to say about their new single and beyond.
1. Hey Naked Face! Congratulations on the release of your new single, “Eyes in Love”! “Eyes in Love” has a very distinct and infectious sound with lyrics that touch on some deeper themes of heartbreak. How do you balance those more introspective elements with the need to create an upbeat and danceable sound?
A: I guess that’s how it was intended, utilising the dark elements to create an upbeat dance sing, ultimately granting it its distinctive character.
2. “Eyes in Love” is a real anthem for anyone who has faced challenges in their life and come out stronger on the other side. How important is it for you to write music that connects with listeners on a deeper emotional level?
A: That’s what it’s about, we write about true events that are going on in our lives. The struggles, the hardship, the joy. We don’t want to be people that write about things that haven’t happened to us. People can see through that. You can’t lie to the audience!
3. The chorus of “Eyes in Love” is incredibly infectious and upbeat. How did you approach crafting such a memorable hook?
A: That is the art of songwriting, isn’t it? Haha. Most importantly, our songs come out quickly, and they come out naturally and unforced. It is intriguing to observe how the human brain processes melodies, and how they can become memorable and remain entrenched in one’s consciousness.
4. The retro-modern blend on “Eyes in Love” feels very authentic and natural. How do you approach incorporating older musical styles into your music seamlessly?
A: Our musical style is heavily influenced by the evolution of dance-pop music over the past few decades, with a particular emphasis on the 70s and 80s. Our creative process is heavily influenced by the various eras of dance music, and we strive to incorporate these elements into our work, resulting in a distinctive and unique sound.
5. Looking back, what are some of the proudest moments or accomplishments that stand out to you?
A: As artists, one of our greatest sources of pride is the increasing number of individuals who have become fans of our music. Knowing that our work has resonated with a growing audience is immensely gratifying, and we are committed to continuing to create music that our fans will enjoy.
6. You have been creating music for quite some time now. I’m curious to know, how would you describe the evolution of your music over the years?
A: Our musical journey began with a focus on rock and pop-punk, but we soon realised that our true passion lay in the realm of electro-pop. The transition was a challenging one, but it allowed us to explore new creative avenues and expand our musical horizons. By embracing this new direction, we were able to develop a unique sound that was more reflective of our musical vision and personal tastes. While it was difficult to leave behind the music that we had been creating, we are thrilled with the direction that we have taken and the path that lies ahead.
7. What’s next for Naked Face? Are there any upcoming projects or releases that you’re particularly excited about?
A: We are excited to announce that we have an additional six tracks that are ready to be released in succession, with more material currently in the works. Our goal is to continue to create and share our music with our fans, and we are eager to see how our audience will receive these new tracks.
