Targets from Texas based band Matthew and The Arrogant Sea is my latest favourite find. It is a soulful, strum-heavy indie rock number with strong roots in Country Folk sounds. It shows promising lyricism, features the frontman Matthew’s magnetic voice, and is the soundtrack for summertime growth. Its use of guitar acoustic is particularly soothing, and with intriguing storytelling it’s likely to become a repeat in your playlist too.
Matthew and The Arrogant Sea is a five-member indie-rock band based out of Denton City in the USA. With Matthew Gray leading with vocals, the members include Blake Vickrey, Tony Whitlock, Hagen Hauschild, and Pablo Alzate. While the band debuted their music in 2009, they’ve been playing for over two decades. They’ve built themselves a reputation for their energized live performances that are often described as euphoric. They combine influences from folk, psychedelic, and more such genres to constantly push the boundaries of their sound.
