‘Just a Feeling’ is so personal and filled with such intense awareness of the pain. The lyrics “but when now I’m in it, now I’m feeling every fiber of my being, I don’t know how to get up..” and Emma’s voice in this part covered me with goosebumps.
The slow and pensive piano travels with the song’s mood till she sees hope slowly as “I tell you mother nature is the best medicine, finding beauty in every day..” Picking up from there, the music starts getting intense as “when it’s washing over us where there’s nothing that helps”, and desperately searching for light. This song showcases the personal struggle this artist is going through.
Journalling her deepest darkest moments in a rhythmic release is brave which makes Emma’s music connect with an audience going through a similar phase in life. The song is produced by Lucas Mendes with exceptional depth, reflecting her emotions fairly. Her vocals and expression gave me a feel of Lhasa de Sela. This new single ‘Just a Feeling’ is an intimate response to the complexities of a bittersweet human life.
