Call Of Sirens - Puppeteer

With ‘Puppeteer’ Call of Sirens Weaves Raw Alt Rock Defiance

Puppeteer‘ is the latest alt rock single by Portsmouth, UK band Call of Sirens. The band consists of Emily Marden (vocals), Andy Bawden (guitar), Matt Hance (drums), and Josh Lebow (bass). The act is influenced by the likes of influence from acts like Paramore, Evanescence, Flyleaf, Skunk Anansie and more. The band has featured on BBC Introducing, the South Coast Chart on Voice FM, Victorious Festival, etc.

The song opens with a steady snare and kick beat before crunchy guitar rhythms come in. Love the raw guitar tone here. The chorus is free-flowing, and the vocals are belting at this point. The vocals of Emily are a highlight! Powerful and subtle at the right spots, conveying emotion and force, really really brilliant vocals. This is great rock songwriting by Call of Sirens at its best.

The bridge and final outro blow up the energy of the song, ending the song in a crescendo. The song lyrically deals with themes of release from control and manipulation, ultimately rebellion and freedom, a perfect fit for the sound of the song.

There is an unpolished sheen in the production here, which gives the song its edge. Puppeteer by Call of Sirens is a solid entry in their catalogue that’ll be loved by fans of raw, heartfelt rock.
