Seattle-based Fallnorth is a four-piece indie alternative rock band. They blend ambient sounds with bubblegrunge. With atmospheric textures and melodies that linger, their debut single, “Bothered“, showcases their knack for crafting songs that stick with you.
The track opens with clean guitar riffs and a bassline that create an ethereal, dreamlike vibe. There’s an almost cinematic quality as the sound builds, with tapped guitar riff setting up an air of anticipation. When the drums seep in, it’s like the perfect storm building up.
The calm verses lay a foundation for Bothered’s lyrical focus on the anxiety faced by young women in a hostile world. Fallnorth explores these emotions; and amplifies them with a hard-hitting alt-rock chorus. Distorted guitars crash in, paired with choral vocal harmonies that lift the intensity while staying melodic.
The outro is simply what you need in this kind on song. Wah-drenched lead guitars take center stage, with thundering drums and belted-out vocals closing the song with raw power. You immediately hit replay.
Fallnorth’s Bothered is a brilliant debut, equal parts atmospheric and hard-hitting, blending light and shade with finesse. If this is the starting point for Fallnorth, I can’t wait to see where they take us next. For fans of alternative rock and indie rock, this track is a must-hear.
