‘Perfect In Your Eyes’ by Moonscapes is an 8-track synth-driven indie-pop album that pulls its listeners down a soundscape that goes from bright to deep-dark. Each track progresses from something wound-up and hidden, before expanding into bright melodies that either feel like they take to the skies or pull us through low-depths.
The lyrics on each track seem to locate themselves in a specific mood evoked by love. This with vocals that feel almost distilled with warmth, travelling far into the distance. It keeps the listener on their toes, while also pulling them, gently, from one swirl of emotion into the next.

‘Perfect In Your Eyes’: Track-by-Track
‘Perfect In Your Eyes’: ‘You Will Miss Me’- ‘Only Love’
The first track, ‘You Will Miss Me’ sets the tone with synths and percussion that feel like they pulsate under the surface.
Then, the refrain dives into a synth heavy free-fall, all while our narrator reflects on a love that’s been tough and isn’t working out. It reflects on the fleeting nature of change in love and pairs this with a ramping build that calmly tumbles into free-fall.
“…One thing’s for certain,
You will miss me…”.
‘Higher Ground’ on the other hand, seems to take on a darker, more mysterious tone. The synths feel as though they trickle down, down into deeper tones that resonate deeply. Like the low rush of waves on sand, the soundscape pulls us into its grasp with sounds crashing over words and ungulfing us whole.
The sound is as heavy as it is intense.
‘Silent Man’ muses on the vulnerable sense of isolation when things are simply left unsaid. The soundscape evokes an 80’s synth sound, groovy and expansive while the lyrics urge a lonely man to step out of his comfort zone in a way.
The groovy soundscape rumbles to a close when the silent man finally let’s go.
“…You’re the silent man, and darkness is your only friend…
….And tonight you’re letting go,…you have promises to hold,…
…You’re the silent man….”.
‘Only Love’ is a piano-led ballad that builds into something that feels heavy with synths and an intense emotional charge. It muses on the liberating sigh of breath love can bring, holding it close while strings then synths build intensity.
“…I count on the moments you say come as you are…
…No need to flee, only breath…
…Only love….”.

‘Perfect In Your Eyes’: ‘High On Emotion’- ‘Sad Hallelujah’
‘High On Emotion’ with Millo expands with an extremely danceable build, that ramps up to breakdown after the chorus. The narrator on this track is almost desperate, wanting for a love that they think should be theirs. One that they need.
“…I need you to light up my world, make me high on emotion…”.
‘Paragon’ pulls in bright, light synths with familiar, settled acoustic guitar melodies to create a sound that feels solid. The percussion on the track is a bit dynamic, moving from simply supporting the melody and lyric on the verse to urging it into a ramping build by the refrain.
The song ends with a bright guitar solo that is bolstered by this urging, marching build provided by the percussion.
The titular ‘Perfect in Your Eyes’ begins with soft melodies that are sucked in by deeper ones almost as soon as they track starts. The sound walks a tight-rope between a dark and light theme, while also evoking the mood from the first track, pulsating under the surface.
Pieces build together into a fully formed sound by the final chorus, built with heavy synths and soft, twinkling melodies all layered in to form a roaring emotional charge.
‘Sad Hallelujah’ is the darkest song on the album, with a deep soundscape evoking the dark pull of temptation while the lyrics describe it. We’re set on the path of dark, descending odyssey, while the lyrics lament on behalf of a protagonist who’s been lured in by someone deceitful.
Even bright synths and sounds seem to get lost and buried by the overwhelming darkness present in the soundscape. It seemly ends on this tone of acceptance (almost).
“…It’s a sad hallelujah,…
…So wipe away your tears…”.
The last sounds you hear are distant piano melodies that feel like a death knell.
Conclusion
‘Perfect In Your Eyes’ by Moonscapes pulls the listener in with its dynamic soundscape and reflective lyrics. All its themes and sensations feel visceral familiar, allowing the listener to fully feel the track’s gravitas on first listen.
