Tende Kasha, also known as Tendekasha De Feat, is a rising star in contemporary reggae, blending African heritage with Jamaican influences. With a debut album “INNER TUNE” released in 2017 and a single “Shinning Star” in 2021, Tende released another single titled “Peace n Love”, in 2020. Maybe it’s just something about reggae music as a whole, but it’s a fresh, cool breath of air when you click play on “Mr Liar”– the chord progressions delicately interwoven into the plucked acoustic guitars, with Tende’s vocals sitting like butter atop the (metaphorical?) croissant. His vocal style is par excellence as he relives the greats of jazz and reggae music, giving it a twist of love and dedication with his lyricism. As we journey into the chorus, the experience only gets better, with the clean electric guitar chords ringing bold and proud, the bass being present and possessing great articulation and groove.

The production, as I did allude to, is layered. It’s deep, and every element sounds in perfect harmony with one another, and the tasteful refrain sections before every chorus serve to relax the air a little bit, until we’re brought back into sync with the percussion; speaking of which, there’s groove and life in the percussion, Tende’s skills as a percussionist also shining through quite nicely on “Mr Liar”.
The mix on “Mr Liar” also elevates the listening experience quite palpably, with the rich, deep timbre of the percussion elements shining through beautifully, and the vocals playing into the mix perfectly, which is something I quite enjoyed during my time listening to this song. The warmth in the sound brings all the elements quite beautifully together and the result is a comfort listen that is sure to make your day better.
