Belgian artist Jean-Philippe Ruelle takes us sailing with synchronicities in his song ‘The Lake of Signs’. The track released last year in the winter, is a dive into deep, just like the season. The sound has an element of rollercoaster ride, but with a slower pace and an amusing tone. The track has a drumroll moment as it opens up its wings mysteriously. If words represented the part with the drums, it would say “In death, journey to the way-out begins, doors open/ as the light enters, memories of joy awaken, thy heart realigns”. This Mystic ship’s sailor, Jean-Philippe Ruelle, takes his listeners on a cryptic ride through the sound of spirit in ‘The Lake of Signs’.

Jean is a master storyteller. His command over his instrumentation and its innovative arrangements make him unique. In his compositions, Jean weaves unconventional styles into one tapestry of a song. ‘The Lake of Signs’ tells a story of the consequences which occur when the mind opens up to a higher and wider realm of synchronicities. This track has a sense of humour is what I sensed. A comical relief that comes from reaching a level in life where one understands the blanket truth. Ruelle here has transformed a rare personal expression into a shared one, which leaves a deep imprint. His music is vivid and dynamic, resonates at an intimate level.
