Produced by Mustard, the diss track aimed at rap rival Drake became the most-awarded rap song in Grammy history. After being nominated three times in the Record of the Year, the Pulitzer Prize winner’s achievement was long due. Lamar dedicated his Record of the Year award to his hometown Los Angeles after the city was devastated by wildfires.

Not Like Us” was originally one of several tracks Kendrick Lamar dropped amid his ongoing feud with Drake. It rapidly transcended its diss track origins to become a global anthem, topping the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The song has also sparked legal drama, as Drake has initiated a defamation suit against Universal Music Group, the record label representing both artists.

With this sweep, Kendrick Lamar becomes the second rapper ever to win both Record and Song of the Year, joining Childish Gambino, while “Not Like Us” is now the third hip-hop track to win Record of the Year, following “This Is America” and Lizzo’s “About Damn Time.”

The 67th Annual Grammy Awards, took place on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena (LA).
